Guide to arrange Ekothon
We are living in the decade of solutions, during which our societies must adapt their activities to the limits of the Earth’s carrying capacity. We need broad societal transformation—a sustainability transition. This guide introduces the Ekothon model, which provides a fast track for advancing sustainability in your own region as well. The model has been developed and tested in the Pirkanmaa region as part of the project Ecological Transition in Pirkanmaa – Redefining Vitality.
Policy proposal: Resident Insight tool
Planners and decision-makers need a better understanding of residents’ everyday lives to promote sustainable well-being. We offer the Asukastieto (Resident Insight) tool for use by planners and decision-makers. The tool helps to identify the key factors shaping residents’ daily lives and societal functioning, as well as measures that promote sustainability.
Policy proposal: Renewing social security with the goal of secure everyday life and a carbon-neutral welfare state
Can Finland achieve its goal of becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral welfare state? The Sustainable Development Goals and the European Union’s Green Deal guide the implementation of a green transition in a socially just manner. To meet these goals, we need social policy that not only combats inequality and disadvantage but also promotes emissions reductions and curbs biodiversity loss. Based on international research, we recommend three social policy instruments to support a just transition: 1) Vouchers; 2) Social dividend; 3) Participation income.
Circles of participation -model
The model helps to critically examine how different individuals and communities become part of society. It enables the analysis and understanding of how participation is formed in everyday life from the perspective of the individual.
Participatory budgeting in resident-driven urban planning
The leaflet describes various practical applications and theoretical models of participatory budgeting, offering a rich picture of the many ways in which participatory budgeting can be interpreted and applied.
Youth participation and the services of the future
The report presents six different service concepts that strengthen youth participation. The report consists of posters and their descriptive texts. The service concepts can be freely used and adapted. They summarise the results of the OmaVerkko research project (2013–2015) carried out at Tampere University. The posters illustrating the service concepts were created in collaboration between the project’s researchers, university students, and artists from Tesoma. Yhteiskuntakummi
Yhteiskuntakummi is a concept designed for use by organizations and professionals working in the field of migration. It is a resource- and competence-oriented solution aimed at supporting the integration processes of recently arrived migrants and promoting two-way integration. The concept can be used, for example, as a foundation for development projects or as an operational model addressing various integration needs.
