Professor Ali Qadir presented the draft chapter of a forthcoming edited book where he examined the discursive (mis)recognition of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, founder of the Ahmadiyya movement. He posits that his misrecognition within the Muslim community resulted into systemic persecution of Ahmadis, framing their beliefs as threats to religious and political orthodoxy.
In this paper, Qadir underscores the importance of understanding the grammar of mysticism, i.e., how mystical expressions function within specific socio-religious context, rather than focusing solely on mystical vocabulary.
