1. Informaatiolukutaito

Tässä työryhmässä tarkastellaan informaatiolukutaitoa. Mahdollisia näkökulmia ovat esimerkiksi:

  • Informaatiolukutaidon käsite ja määritelmät
  • Informaatiolukutaidon opettaminen ja oppiminen eri koulutusasteilla
  • Informaatiolukutaito eri konteksteissa
  • Informaatiolukutaito ja kirjastot
  • Informaatiolukutaito ja kansalaisuus/demokratia
  • Tekoälyn ja/tai uusien teknologioiden vaikutus informaatiolukutaitoon
Esityksissä voidaan käsitellä myös informaatiolukutaitoon läheisesti liittyviä teemoja kuten media- tai monilukutaitoa, perinteistä lukutaitoa unohtamatta.
Ryhmään toivotaan esityksiä sekä suunnitellusta, tekeillä olevasta ja päättyneestä tutkimuksesta.
Esitysten kielet voivat olla suomi, ruotsi tai englanti ja niiden kesto 15-20min. The languages of the presentations can be Swedish, Finnish or English.

 

2. Datalukutaito

Datalukutaito on noussut 2020-luvun aikana yhdeksi lukutaitojen tutkimuskentän keskeisistä kohteista ja käsitteistä. Datalukutaidon työryhmä on kiinnostunut datalukutaitoon liittyvistä empiirisitä ja teoreettisista tutkimuksista: valmiista, keskeneräisitä, juuri käynnistyneistä tai vasta idean asteella olevista. Esitykset ja puheenvuorot voivat käsitellä muun muassa seuraavia kysymyksiä: Mitä datalukutaito oikeastaan on? Mikä on datalukutaidon suhde lähikäsitteisiin kuten informaatiolukutaitoon? Voidaanko data ylipäätään käsitteellistää tekstiksi, eli luettavaksi ja kirjoitettavaksi artefaktiksi? Miten datalukutaito näkyy ihmisten arjessa? Miten datalukutaitoa voidaan tukea osana informaalia, formaalia ja nonformaalia kasvatusta. Työryhmään ovat tervetulleita suulliset esitykset, paneelit, keskustelut ja posterit.

3. Research Data Practices and Data Management

Research data practices encompass the methods and strategies used by researchers to acquire, process, and utilize data (in its various formats and from various sources) throughout the lifecycle of a research project. Data management refers to the systematic handling of data throughout its lifecycle, from initial creation or acquisition to eventual preservation, sharing or deletion. Understanding, supporting, and developing the practices related with research data and its management are critical for ensuring the integrity, reproducibility, and impact of research. Working group for ”Research Data Practices and Data Management” aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to present innovative approaches, best practices, and emerging trends and challenges in this area in a form of oral presentations. We invite submissions on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Scholars’ data practices in different fields of research
  • Data management across the research lifecycle
  • Data infrastructures, data curation and preservation
  • Emerging technologies (including AI) in data access and management
  • Institutional and international policies and standards for data governance
  • Support, education and training for data stewardship

The languages of the presentations can be English or Finnish.

4. Integrated library systems

10 – 15 minutes short presentations where academics and practitioners will talk about integrated library system (ILS), also known as a library management system (LMS).

Examples of topics could include:

  • Best practices in the use and implementation of ILSs
  • Migration to cloud-based ILSs
  • Novel functionalities in ILSs
  • Open-source ILSs
  • Global development of ILSs
  • Local customization of ILSs
  • Technical challenges
  • Case studies
  • Effect of ILS in day-to-day practices

English is preferred as the langue for presentations, but also Finnish and Swedish are possible.

 

5. Information behaviour and information practices in the context of minorities and special groups

We are pleased to invite submissions for our upcoming session focusing on the critical theme of information needs, seeking behaviours, and access to information among minority and special groups. This session aims to bring together scholars and practitioners to share their research and development projects that address the unique challenges faced by these communities. We seek extended abstracts for presentations on research that is either planned, in progress, or completed. We encourage submissions with a focus on methodological aspects, yet we are open to contributions on a broad range of relevant topics. Additionally, we welcome extended abstracts detailing development projects and best practices from various information service providers that aim to meet these communities’ needs.

Theme and Scope:

The session will explore the diverse information related questions in the context of various minority and special groups, including but not limited to:

  • Language and cultural minorities
  • Immigrants and refugees
  • Individuals with disabilities or health concerns
  • Sexual minorities
  • Children and youth
  • Elderly populations

Objectives:

  • To understand the unique information needs and seeking behaviours, and practices of minority and special needs groups.
  • To explore effective strategies and methodologies for studying these populations.
  • To highlight successful development projects and best practices from libraries, knowledge organizations, and information providers.

We hope to include presentations that are 15-20 minutes each. The presentations may be in Finnish, Swedish or English.

 

6. Osallistava ja osallistuva tutkimus / Participatory and engaged research

Viime vuosina ihmistieteissä on kasvanut kiinnostus tutkimukseen, joissa tutkimukseen osallistuville halutaan tarjota mahdollisuuksia osallistua heitä itseään ja heidän yhteisöjään koskevan tiedon tuottamiseen. Erilaisia osallistuvan ja osallistavan tutkimuksen tutkimusorientaatioita ovat esimerkiksi kansalaistiede, joukkoistaminen, kanssatutkimus ja yhteiskehittäminen.

Työryhmään toivotaan esityksiä suunnitelluista, meneillään olevista ja jo päättyneistä hankkeista, joissa hyödynnetään osallistavan tai osallistuvan tutkimuksen tutkimusorientaatioita. Esitys voi keskittyä myös tutkimuksen menetelmällisiin ratkaisuihin. Toivomme työryhmään esityksiä, joiden pituus on n. 15–20 minuuttia. Esitysten lisäksi työryhmässä järjestetään paneelikeskustelu.

In recent years in the human sciences, there has been a growing interest in research where participants are offered opportunities to participate in the knowledge production about themselves and their communities. Different research orientations of participatory and engaged research include citizen science, crowdsourcing, co-research and co-development.

Presentations in this session can include talks on planned, ongoing and completed projects that make use of participatory or engaged research orientations. The presentation may also focus on the methodological aspects of the projects. We welcome presentations of approximately 15–20 minutes in length. In addition to the presentations, the session will include a panel discussion.

7. Tiedonhallinta ja arkistointi

Työryhmän teemana on tiedonhallinta ja arkistointi. Teema käsittää laajasti tiedonhallintaan, asiakirjahallintaan ja arkistointiin liittyvät aihepiirit kattaen sekä digitaaliset aineistot että perinteisen analogisen asiakirja- ja arkistoaineiston ja näiden toimintaympäristöt vaatimuksineen. Esitykset voivat koskea aihepiiristä tekeillä olevaa tieteellistä tutkimusta, opinnäytteitä, alan ammatillisia kehittämisprojekteja tai kuvata käytännön ratkaisuja erilaisissa organisaatioissa.

Ryhmään toivotaan esityksiä (15-20 min) esimerkiksi, mutta ei näihin rajautuen, seuraavista aihepiireistä

  • digitaaliset asiakirja-aineistot ja aineiston digitointi
  • asiakirjahallinnan ammattilaisuus
  • asiakirjahallinta ja informaatiokulttuurit

8. Knowledge Management and knowledge-based work

Knowledge management studies how organizations create, manage and utilize knowledge. Knowledge management provides a systematic approach to enable constant learning in organizations at individual, community or network and organizational levels. It also connects to the study of work, action, interaction in working contexts, as well as to the examination of knowledge sharing, use and creation and information literacy in organizations, both on the individual and communal level. The constant development and learning require abilities to share knowledge, manage knowledge-based work and develop the data management infrastructures. The continuous workplace changes and technological advancements have created new ways of organizing work, modes of collaboration such as crowdsourcing, and forms of data such as big and open data, which all have implications for knowledge management. Consequently, rich discussion from different perspectives is required to contemplate the changing nature and role of knowledge management in organizational innovation and performance.

In this session, we welcome presentations regarding knowledge management and knowledge-based work from different perspectives. The session seeks scientific and practice-based contributions. Issues of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge management in different contexts and at different levels, such as public or private organizations, teams, and communities
  • Theoretical premises of knowledge management
  • Methods of studying knowledge management in organizational contexts
  • The measurement of knowledge management implications
  • Knowledge management in the context of open innovation and crowdsourcing
  • Implications of Big Data for knowledge management
  • Knowledge Management and sustainability

Knowledge management and relevant concepts, such as information literacy and information behavior

The abstracts can be in Finnish, Swedish or English, but in the presentations, English is strongly encouraged.

 


9. Converging AI and LIS Ville Jylhä & Yucong Lao, University of Oulu

This workshop seeks to bring together scholars focused on the intersection of AI and LIS. We welcome presentations that explore various aspects of AI as they relate to information studies, including but not limited to:

  • Recommender systems and personalized information retrieval
  • Generative AI systems and information creation
  • Autonomous systems and information overload
  • AI’s role in the shaping of everyday information practices and information behavior
  • The affordances that AI has for information practices
  • Issues of mis- and disinformation in the context of AI
  • Preparing AI education and literacy for an AI-driven future

Presentations should be approximately 15 minutes long, providing a platform for engaging discussions and knowledge exchange with the audience. We encourage a variety of presentation formats, including traditional talks, panel discussions, and posters. Our goal is to foster a collaborative environment where researchers can share their projects, methodologies, and insights on AI within the realm of information science.

The languages of the presentations can be Finnish, English and Swedish.

10. Nousevat i-tähdet: Informaatiotutkimuksen opinnäytteet ja väitöstutkimussuunnitelmat

Työpajassa esitellään informaatioalan, eli informaatiotutkimuksen ja siihen rinnastuvien alojen valmistuneita opinnäytteitä ja väitöskirjatutkimussuunnitelmia. Sessio toteutetaan posterisessiona, jonka aluksi on pitchaustuokio, jossa pidetään minuutin mittainen houkutteluesitys omasta aiheesta.
