WORKSHOPS:

Hamlet´s Norwegian Dollhouse design workshop (20.-24.5.)
The real-time motion capture workshop produced in co-operation with T7/UTA, Aalto University, Queensland University of Technology, Stockholm´s Dramatiska Högskola and Kungliga Tekniska Högskola. The education focused on the making of 3D-set designs and the virtual environment to be used in the later performance workshop.

Virtual in Broadcasting (6.-7.6.)
A workshop executed together with YLE, where to focus was in the use of motion capture -data obtained by the Kinect-sensor in broadcasting (postproduction and live broadcast). The workshop also trained the acting students from the University of Tampere to work in a virtual environment.

Hamlet´s Norwegian Dollhouse performance workshop (26.-30.8.)
The real-time motion capture workshop planned and produced in co-operation with T7/UTA, Aalto University, Queensland University of Technology, Stockholm´s Dramatiska Högskola, Kungliga Tekniska Högskola and also Deakin University. The education focused on the level of interaction between the real stage and the real-time virtual reality in a new performing environment. The workshop´s results will also be used as the material for Roihankorpi´s and Delbridge´s upcoming publication.

The workshop was supervised by Matthew Delbride (Queensland University of Techology) and Daniel Skovli (Deakin University, Deakin Motion Lab). The expert guests came from the Trinity College Dublin/ Arts and Technology Research Lab and from the performing/research group Cabaret Electrique from Stockholm.

STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT:

Reactive Residence -concept
The Reactive Residence -work platform was developed further in co-operation with the University of Tampere, the Tampere University of Applied Sciences and YLE. The first seminar (Media Artist at the Crossroads of New Performing Environments) produced by the concept will be held in September 2013.

Reactive residence as a part of YLE´s Mediapolis-initiative
The Reactive Residence -concept, developed by the VIMMA project will be developed further as one of the research content platforms for Mediapolis-initiative. The project contributed to the planning of the educational and research contexts for the YLE´s and Technopolis´ Mediapolis-initiative in various ways. As a result, University of Tampere (School of Communication, Media and Theatre – CMT) and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Fine Arts, TV and Film) agreed on organising certain parts of their education within the Mediapolis. From the VIMMA projects initiative, CMT and the School of Information Sciences/ Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction are acquiring a common workspace from Mediapolis.

INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH AND CO-OPERATION:

A research- and co-operation visit to Salford (10.-13.6.2013.)
Roihankorpi and Lenni-Taattola visited The University of Salford to negotiate to start a joint PhD in digital arts –programme, which would be produced by six international partners (Univ. of Salford, Univ. of Tampere, Univ. of Bergen, Univ. of Greenwich, Vilnius University, Trinity College Dublin) in January 2014. During the same visit Roihankorpi and Lenni-Taattola presented the Reactive Residence -concept to the representatives of BBC R&D department/ MediaCity UK.

Technology as a facilitator of new forms of production and research in the performing arts –seminar (9.8.)
Roihankorpi presented project´s results and the upcoming S.A. Andrée production in a seminar titled Technology as a facilitator of new forms of production and research in the performing arts during the Tampere Theatre Festival. The audience consisted of theatre managers from the Nordic countries and members of the Scen utan gränser/ Theatre without borders network.

Scen utan gränser/ Theatre without borders –network seminar (29.8.)
Lenni-Taattola presented the project´s results and essential contents to partners in the Nordic network in a seminar held in Aalto University, Helsinki.
