The ENT1DEP project studies causal links between enterovirus infections and type 1 diabetes, and the host factors regulating the outcomes of infections

The EU-funded ENT1DEP (Enterovirus-linked Type 1 Diabetes Exposed – mechanisms and Prevention) project has started in 2024 and is led by Heikki Hyöty’s research group.

The ultimate aim of the project is to pinpoint individuals at high risk of developing T1D due to EV infections and intervene early. The findings from this project could also advance the prevention and treatment of other similar diseases, extending the benefits of this research.
