Talk Series Session Examined Homelessness and Systemic Resilience in Finland

We hosted a Talk Series session on November 26 featuring Prof. Juha Kaakinen, Professor of Practice at Tampere University. His presentation, Homelessness and Systemic Resilience: Welfare County Responses to Neoliberal Policy Shifts in Finland, generated substantial interest among participants from academia, government, and the wider public.

Prof. Kaakinen offered an analysis of how recent government decisions and broader neoliberal policy dynamics shape homelessness responses across Finland’s welfare counties. His insights on systemic resilience and local adaptation provided an analytical perspective that is rarely applied in homelessness research.

The event prompted thoughtful, in-depth questions, reflecting the relevance of the topic and the value of Prof. Kaakinen’s experience. Participants engaged actively in discussion, particularly on issues related to intersectoral collaboration, long-term homelessness policy, and the future of sustainable urban responses.

We thank Prof. Kaakinen for his contribution and all attendees for their engagement. The recording will be available on our website shortly.
