Keynote speech "Who do libraries belong to? Struggles on public spaces for culture" held at Hämeenlinna

Team members Riie Heikkilä and Ossi Sirkka were keynote speakers at an event (Lahden AKE-alueen kirjastolaisten Verkostoitumis- ja inspiraatiopäivät) for library professionals at Hämeenlinna on 16 May 2024. Their talk “Who do libraries belong to? Struggles on public spaces for culture” received lots of comments and a the talk was followed by a lively debate.

The presentation was based on PUBLIB (Redistribution of Cultural Capital in the Era of Algorithms: A Comparative Study of Finnish Libraries) research project and on a reserch article titled  “Tolerants versus traditionalists: making sense of online conversations on the new Finnish flagship library Oodi” published in International Journal of Cultural Policy.
