Sara Sivonen defended her dissertation 21 November on political taste

The Tampere Group of Sociology of Culture member Sara Sivonen defended her doctoral dissertation on 21 November 2025 on political taste. The Opponent was Professor Eeva Luhtakallio (University of Helsinki).

Sara’s dissertation, Poliittinen maku: Kulttuuristen käytäntöjen ja elämäntyylien sosiopoliittinen eriytyminen Suomessa (‘Political Taste: The Socio-Political Differentiation of Cultural Practices and Lifestyles in Finland’, available open access at https://trepo.tuni.fi/handle/10024/231271), was successfully defended on Friday 21 November at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Tampere University. Professor Eeva Luhtakallio from University of Helsinki acted as the Opponent, while Semi Purhonen from Tampere University acted as the Custos. Pre-examiners of the dissertation were Docent Nina Kahma (University of Turku) and Docent Niilo Kauppi (University of Helsinki).
