Overall, my research interests pertain to European history in a global context, including political, economic and cultural aspects. German and French approaches to Cold War related conflicts and cooperation have been in the main focus of my research so far. My upcoming research project deals with former West German Chancellor, Willy Brandt, and the changing nature of his thinking on the longer-term solution to the ‘German Problem’. International perceptions of Brandt’s objectives are of special interest. As a historian, I draw on all types of sources available, notably archival documents (personal and governmental papers), published document collections, online documents, memoirs, interviews, likewise scholarly books and articles in different languages.
