My background is in health sciences, especially in public health. I am interested in questions concerning substance use and abuse (alcohol, illicit drugs and medicinal drugs), socioeconomic inequalities and marginalization.
During my Research Collegium years (2011–2013) I aim to study substance use and its association with marginalization. More specifically, I aim to study social and health related exclusion and criminality of substance users. As a study population I use persons suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs, who represent a sample of all substance users. The data used in this epidemiological study is an extensive register-based data, where several national Finnish registers have been linked.
