Teemu Makkonen holds a PhD and a Title of Docent in Economic Geography. He is also an Assistant Professor, currently on a leave of absence, at the University of Southern Denmark (Department of Business and Economics). Most recently, he completed a Marie Curie Actions (within the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union) funded research project on “cross-border regional innovation systems” at the University of Surrey. He is an Editorial Board Member of Bulletin of Geography. Socio-economic Series, Fennia – International Journal of Geography and International Journal of Knowledge-Based Development, and Management. His research interests include border regions, economic geography, innovation studies, knowledge transfer, regional development, tourism and transport geography.
At the IASR, Teemu will focus on investigating the impact of foreign board members on cross-border knowledge transfer and the innovativeness of the firm.
