Last week, Guilherme, Dr. Hokka and Prof. Kuokkala participated in the Society for Experimental Mechanics’ Annual Conference in Reno, Nevada. The research group presented its most recent developments in employing synchronized full-field Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and Infrared Thermography (IR) to analyze the thermomechanical behavior of steels under tensile loading. On top of the technical program, which contained many excellent works on the dynamic behavior of materials and application of characterization techniques, the conference was a great opportunity for meeting colleagues from the other side of the Atlantic and hearing from their current endeavors.
