PhD position: In-situ micromechanical testing

We are looking a hire a doctoral researcher (PhD student) to work on micromechanics of materials. The PhD student will work on mechanical deformation behaviour of materials at small length scales with a special emphasis on extreme deformation conditions – high temperatures and high strain rates. During the course of the PhD, the student will use focused ion beam (FIB) for micro-sample preparation, perform micromechanical experiments in the SEM and study the effects of strain rate and temperature on material deformation behaviour. The student will disseminate the outcome of his/her research in the form of scientific publications and present them at international scientific conferences.
