Intersectionality in Research – Study Group for Master's Thesis Students, 2026–2027

Are you planning or currently writing a master’s thesis that examines how different social positions, such as gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race, age, health, or disability, shape people’s experiences and opportunities? Are you interested in analyzing power relations, inequalities, and how different social positions intersect?

The Intersectionality in Research study group is a peer support group for master’s thesis students. Together we read and discuss research on intersectionality and explore how intersectional approaches can be applied in our own thesis projects. We welcome students from all disciplines. Discussions are held in Finnish.

This study group is affiliated with Tampere University’s Intersectionality Research Network (InReNet), which brings together researchers and students from different disciplines to advance and develop intersectional approaches in research and teaching.

The group had its introductory meeting on 6 October 2026, where we agreed to meet every four weeks on Tuesdays and to read two articles for each meeting.
