New Projects in 2026

Researchers working with the Narrare Research Centre have received significant support in the end-of-year funding decisions. Next year, there will be three new research projects or larger research units collaborating with Narrare that deepen and broaden understanding in the fields of literary studies, philosophy, journalism, and the history of knowledge.

  • Prof. Sari Kivistö (Project PI): “Suffering and Meliorism in Literature and the Philosophy of Literature” — WP 4 in the Centre of Excellence in Meliorist Philosophy of Suffering (MePhiS), funded by the Research Council of Finland, 2026–2033.   • Dr. Juha Raipola: Journalismin horjuvat merkitykset: piittaamattomat tulkinnat ja tiedon ehtojen murros [The Shifting Meanings of Journalism: Indifferent Interpretations and the Transformation of Knowledge Conditions], funded by the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation, €180,000.
  • Dr. Samuli Björninen (Docent): Tiedon pikkujättiläiset: faktan retoriikka ja faktakertomukset uuden ajan tiedonhistoriassa [Little Giants of Knowledge: The Rhetoric of Facts and Factual Narratives in the Early Modern History of Knowledge], funded by the Kone Foundation, 2026–2028. Read more

The research center congratulates the successful applicants and looks forward to new events and collaborations arising from these projects. At the same time, we extend our best wishes to all those who participated in the funding rounds but were not granted support this time. Let us hope that these ideas will continue to grow and flourish in the future.
