The group meets in Zoom on Fridays at 09.00-10.30 and it is facilitated by Camilla Lindholm. The sessions start with goal-setting and warm up. During the main part of the session, the participants work on their own projects, getting motivated by having a look at the Zoom screen and seeing others working. After writing, the participants wind down by discussing how they have met their goals and what writing felt like.
The aim of the group is to provide a virtual space where researchers can work on individual projects and simultaneously give each other support. The group wants to build a writing community that helps you keeping writing a priority on your to-do list.
The format of this virtual writing group is inspired by the collective writing retreat model created by Professor Rowena Murray at the University of the West of Scotland, UK. In Plural’s and DPLA’s group, the concept of ‘writing’ is perceived as entailing a very broad spectrum of academic research activities, including not only text production but also thinking, reading, analyzing, etc. Therefore, the time reserved in the writing group can be spent on any of the activities in the spectrum, such as on in-depth reading – anything that supports ‘writing’ and benefits from concentrated and routinized working!
The group is open to both DPLA’s doctoral candidates and to the staff members of the Languages Unit. You do not have to commit to participating in all sessions – feel free to join the group whenever you have the time!

Hope to see you there!
