The Academy of Finland’s funding decisions for autumn 2020 are just around the corner. The Academy of Finland changed its funding conditions so that the data management plan must be submitted after a positive funding decision. We have described the changed practices in an earlier post.
Researchers who have received a positive funding decision have eight weeks to submit the data management plan to the Academy’s system. The Academy encourages researchers to consult data management specialists in their own organisation in writing a data management plan. The Research Data Services are here to help and support researchers with their plan. After the positive funding decision, the Data Services contact all researchers responsible for writing and submitting the plan via email and provide practical instructions on how to proceed.
There are guides and guidelines available that instruct in writing the plan. The Research Data Management Guide provides comprehensive guidelines for data management planning (including managing the entire data life cycle). The Academy of Finland recommends writing the data management plan with DMPTuuli that also offers detailed guidance for each question. Tampere Higher Education Community’s own, updated DMP Guidelines are also availabe in DMPTuuli. Tips for drawing up a plan can also be picked up in ” How do I write a data management plan?” -training session in 20th May 2021.
The Data Services also offer personal consultation in writing the data management plan. When the plan is ready, it should be sent for comments to researchdata@tuni.fi. In addition, the Data Services send the plan to the dean for approval, after which the researcher can add the plan to the Academy of Finland’s system and receive funding.
