About the speakers:

Dr. Jing Meiying

Dr. Jing is the Deputy Director for International Cooperation at the National Academy of Education Administration, China. Dr. Jing obtained her Doctor degree in Management Science from Peking University. She is a visiting researcher of the University of Sydney and Tampere University. Her research interest focusing on organizational change and educational leadership development. She was a key member of national education project titled Transformation of Chinese Local Universities. She is a core member of the EU Erasmus+ project: Governance and Academic Leadership of Chinese and European Universities in the Context of Innovation and Internationalization.

 

Dr. Mari-Anna Suurmunne

Mari-Anna Suurmunne the Counsellor of Education and Science at the Finnish Embassy in Beijing. where she facilitates collaboration between Finnish and Chinese Higher Education Institutions. Marianna holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Alberta and has worked in various roles in Higher Education institutions both in Finland and beyond.

 

 

 

Dr. David (Wei) Liu – commentator

Wei Liu is a practitioner and researcher in Higher Education Internationalization at the University of
Alberta International, Canada. He obtained his PhD in Education from Beijing Normal University in 2011 and he was the  2011–2012 Horowitz Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Research for Teacher Education and Development, University of Alberta. In the past ten years, he has been leading the Global Academic Leadership Development program at the University of Alberta, a professional development program for Chinese university administrative leaders. His recent publications have appeared in key international journals such as Journal of Studies in International Education, Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management, Higher Education Research and Development, and International Journal of Leadership in Education.

 

Dr. Olli-Pekka Malinen – Moderator

Dr. Olli-Pekka Malinen is a University Lecturer at the University of Helsinki and works in the Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL) coordination team with primary focus on China partnerships. During his career, he has worked as a schoolteacher, researcher, teacher educator, international education expert, and a vice director of a multidisciplinary research institute. His research themes include teacher efficacy, inclusive education, and evidence-based models of teacher professional development. Malinen has authored scientific and professional publications and presented in a range of conferences around the world. Having lived in four countries and collaborated with partners from five continents, Malinen interacts confidently with people from diverse backgrounds in several languages including Mandarin Chinese
