Traits of Nordic Architecture is a scholarly publication including the works done by students at the Contemporary Nordic Architecture course (ARK-04227), a Master’s level course held at the Tampere University School of Architecture in the Spring semester 2020.
The Contemporary Nordic Architecture course aims at investigating the common characteristics of Nordic examples of built works of architecture by analysing their design strategies and features. Each of the works, usually developed in small groups, opposes a contemporary example of architecture with a Modernist one through four broad themes around which the course unfolds: context & history, landscape & city, typology & organisation, and space & materiality.
The students’ works done during the course have been gathered in this first edition of a publication series, which may be downloaded as Open Access book at the Trepo portal, the institutional repository of Tampere University, within the Monograph and Serials collection.
