A warm thank you to everyone who joined the 11th IEEE Nordic Circuits and Systems Conference (NorCAS 2026) at Tampere Hall on 20–21 October. The conference brought together 132 researchers and industry professionals from across the Nordic (and worldwide) circuits and systems community for two inspiring days of presentations, discussions and new connections.

The conference was preceded by tutorials on Monday, 19 October. Luigi Carro led a tutorial on Low-Energy Deep Learning Using a Software-Only Approach, followed by Sayani Majumdar and Kapil Bhardwaj’s tutorial, Embedding Intelligence at the Sensor Nodes: Moving Beyond Edge AI with Hardware-Native Learning Systems.

Professor Jari Nurmi of Tampere University opened the first conference day with an engaging opening talk, setting the stage for another full programme of scientific contributions and invited keynote presentations.

NorCAS plays an important role in strengthening the circuits and systems community by creating a forum for sharing state-of-the-art research, exchanging ideas across disciplines and building closer connections between academia and industry. Tampere Wireless Research Center (TWRC) was proud to be closely involved in this year’s event, with Professor Jari Nurmi serving as General Chair and Steering Committee Chair.

In addition, Vishnu Unnikrishnan chaired the Delta-Sigma and Sensing Technologies and Mixed-Mode Circuits -sessions and Syed Mohsin Abbas chaired both Digital Communication Circuits and Systems as well as System-on-Chip Design -sessions.

TWRC-affiliated researchers contributed to the scientific programme with four papers showcasing Tampere University’s expertise in hardware-oriented research. Their work ranged from ultra-low-latency decoder architectures and automated hardware design exploration to resource-efficient FPGA implementations and reconfigurable computing. With this work TWRC researchers demonstrated new approaches to faster, more efficient and adaptable computing systems.

Thank you to all speakers, contributors, organisers and participants for making NorCAS 2026 a memorable and meaningful gathering in Tampere.
