Purpose of the Visit
Visiting researchers are expected to conduct an independent research project during their stay. Before arrival, prospective visitors are asked to submit a research proposal outlining the work they plan to carry out, as well as a short statement describing how they intend to use their time in Finland, how the visit will be funded, and what they hope to gain from the research stay.
Following review and, where needed, revisions to the proposal, the Center may issue an official invitation to Tampere University.
Support Provided by the Center
During the visit, the Center provides visiting researchers with a resource agreement, which may include access to Tampere University buildings, a Tampere University email address, and a laptop for use during the stay.
Each visiting researchers is supervised by a member of the Center. In addition, researchers are encouraged to engage with the wider team through regular informal meetings and academic discussions.
Expectations
Visiting researchers are expected to work independently and maintain an active research and engagement profile during their stay. This may include participating in discussions, sharing their work with the team, contributing to the Center’s academic environment, and making use of opportunities for collaboration.
As the Center is a small research unit with broad networks and impact, visiting researchers should be prepared to take responsibility for planning and managing their visit.
Responsibilities of Visiting Researchers
Visiting researchers are responsible for arranging:
- Funding for the visit
- Residence permit or visa matters, where applicable
- Accommodation in Finland
- A research proposal before arrival
