Upcoming Talk Series Session: Shifting Global Health Governance and Implications for Health in All Policies

Our Centre will host Professor Benjamin Mason Meier for an online Talk Series session on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EEST.

Professor Meier’s presentation, “Shifting Global Health Governance: Implications for Health in All Policies,” will examine current transformations in global health governance and their implications for advancing Health in All Policies. The session will focus on the changing role of U.S. leadership in global health, including recent shifts in authority, financing, public health science, and foreign assistance. It will also consider how these developments are reshaping global health institutions and creating new challenges for health policy, governance, and equity.

Since World War II, the United States has played a central role in shaping global health institutions and bilateral health assistance. However, recent policy shifts have had far-reaching effects on global health governance. Professor Meier will discuss the rise of the U.S.-led global health order, the challenges associated with its decline, and the ways in which global health governance may need to adapt to advance Health in All Policies in a rapidly changing political environment.
