New H2020 funded European project INVENT started!

"INVENT: European Inventory of Societal Values of Culture as a Basis for Inclusive Cultural Policies in the Globalizing World", a Horizon 2020 funded research consortium (2020–2023) including teams from nine European countries has started in February 2020!

INVENT is a research project funded under the H2020 Programme of the EU. The INVENT project sets out to identify, through research, the cultural and social preconditions required for the strategic goals of the New EU Agenda for Culture to be realized.

The main coordinator of INVENT is Professor Susanne Janssen (Erasmus University Rotterdam). Professor Semi Purhonen (Tampere University) is the team leader of the Finnish research team. Besides the Dutch and the Finnish teams, INVENT includes teams from Croatia, Denmark, France, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.

INVENT Board meeting was held in Rotterdam 20-21 February and the work in the consortium has already started! During the first year, the plan is to collect large-scale survey data from all nine European countries involved as well as start online scraping of cultural policy discussion data.

The Finnish research team of INVENT includes Ossi Sirkka and Sara Sivonen as PhD candidates (from June 2020 onwards), Riie Heikkilä (senior fellow) and Semi Purhonen (PI).
