New members to Insurgent Spatial Practices

Insurgent Spatial Practices is growing, as two researchers, Krista Willman and Antti Wallin joins the collective. The research interests of both align well with aims of the collective, bringing new perspectives, skills and energy to the group!

Krista works as a University Teacher of Environmental Policy and Regional Studies in the degree programme of Administrative Sciences, at the Faculty of Management and Business in Tampere University. Currently she is wrapping up her PhD thesis on Environmental Policy concerning urban community gardening. In the dissertation, she formulates the concept of operational space of urban gardening by focusing on spatial and social practices and interaction processes within gardening communities and between gardeners and the city. In her research, she is particularly interested in the experience and making of urban space and the coexistence of people and urban nature. Krista’s teaching focuses on everyday life and consumption practices, as well as environmental agency of citizens.

Antti works as a University Lecturer in Social Policy and as a Research Coordinator for the Sustainable Transformation of the Urban Environments specialization area at Tampere University. He is interested in the transformation of cities between politics and everyday life. Antti has studied aging in cities, participatory urban planning, neighbourhood identities, and urban cultures. Recently, he has focused on the social impacts of urban sustainability transitions, such as eco-gentrification or neo-liberalism in connection to sustainability

You can read their short bios and see their photos together with other members of Insurgent Spatial Practices in here.
