Background
The Knowledge Centre for Real Estate Development (KCRED) was created in the autumn of 2022 to guide the research and teaching of Real Estate Development.
We are a future-oriented research unit that examines global change trends and their effects on the real estate and construction industry in its research activities. The KCRED develops new value creation models that meet future needs and studies the dynamics of industry change in the industry’s institutional operating environment. New innovations, the diffusion of innovations and socio-technical changes in real estate and construction business are our central research targets.
The KCRED has defined real estate development as an activity that creates value for real estate users, owners, and the surrounding society by developing land, real estate, a building or its part, facilities, technologies, services, or a user portfolio.
The success of the KCRED is based on the successful combination of scientific research and practical business development. We strive to do high-level research that benefits cities, companies and organizations, starting with practical problems. The practical usability of the results is also important for the competence center.
Goal
According to our strategy, The Knowledge Centre for Real Estate Development’s action is divided into three sub-groups:
- Reseacrh
- We are a strong, internationally connected and recognized real estate and construction industry’s research centre.
- We are a valued research partner in Finland and the research community, as well as in business life.
- We have extensive multidisciplinary cooperation networks.
- Teaching
- We offer an attractive study subject for students.
- A strong international actor in teaching.
- Societal impact
- We are an active societal influencer.
- We promote the development of real estate and construction industry business.
Impact
The KCRED’s effectiveness can be seen in the direction of teaching and research in the field, as well as in close cooperation with actors in the field. In this way, a wide network of actors is formed, whose decisions and actions have an impact on both the industry and society. High level research and scientific publications are part of our effectiveness.
The Knowledge Centre for Real Estate Industry works together with Tampere University open innovation platform CoreLab. Visible communication and events, like seminars, webinars and the workshops of different projects help spread information about our research subjects.
Partners
The KCRED cooperates extensively with different cities, companies and other industry players in various RDI projects. We actively apply for research funding from the EU, Business Finland, foundations, companies and organizations. Starting new projects creates opportunities to expand the cooperation network, and the DigiCore project, for example, also involved actors focused on digital business.
In addition, the KCRED collaborates within the University of Tampere cross-sectorally, e.g. with the architecture unit, information management and building technology. We value interdisciplinary cooperation and look forward to working together with different fields and actors!
