The open position is related to on-going “INnovative polymer-based COmposite systeMs for high-efficient Energy Scavenging and Storage” (InComEss) project that receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme (Grant No. 862597). The InComEss project develops green material and manufacturing solutions for energy harvesting and storage by combining polymer based-composite materials into a novel single/multi-source concept to harvest electrical energy from mechanical energy and/or waste heat ambient sources. The project will demonstrate its applicability in key sectors and applications, structural health and vehicle monitoring in automotive, aerospace and building, presenting the highest market potential.
The open position will focus on research and development of low-cost environmentally sustainable supercapacitors with high energy and power densities. The main aim is to develop supercapacitors consisting of successive layers fabricated by printing methods. The objective is to determine the influence of the different materials combinations and structures together with printing conditions on the electrical and mechanical properties of supercapacitors. The work will be carried out in close collaboration between the partners.
