Congratulations to Redwan Islam for winning the best talk award at the Advances in 3OM and Photonics Technologies 2025 conference in Romania. The talk titled “Design and Characterization of Si3N4-GaSb Hybrid Laser for Gas Spectroscopy of CO2 around 2.7 um Wavelength” presented the design and experimental characterization of a hybrid-integrated laser targeting the 2.7 um absorption line of CO2. By combining a high-gain GaSb-based reflective semiconductor optical amplifier with a low-loss Si3N4 photonic integrated circuit (PIC) featuring a Distributed Bragg Reflector Microring Resonator (DBR-MRR) filter, it achieved a high-power, single-mode output of around 17 mW, significantly advancing the state-of-the-art for tunable Mid-IR sources.
