ORC’s PhD student Nouman Zia successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on Dec 16, 2022. Prof. Michael Wale from the University College London (United Kingdom) and Eindhoven University (The Netherlands) acted as the opponent in the defence. The defence started off with an excellent presentation by Nouman about his work during his doctoral studies on GaSb-based emitters in photonic integrated circuits, followed by an informative presentation by Prof. Wale on integrated photonics in general and ended with a lively discussion between the opponent and the defendant about the dissertation. The published doctoral dissertation titled, “Wavelength-versatile GaSb Light Emitters for Hybrid Photonics Integrated Circuits“, is available online.
