Presentation abstract: Thai Fishing Industry case study: how comic contracts can enable vulnerable workers

Comic contracts, a novel approach to legally binding documents, offer a visually intuitive format aimed at improving accessibility for individuals with low literacy or language barriers. This study examines a comic contract designed for migrant workers in the Thai fishing industry, a group often subjected to exploitation and abuse. Through a combination of simple language and illustrations, the comic contract aims to empower workers by clarifying their rights and duties. The presentation evaluates the effectiveness of the comic contract exploring its potential to bridge the gap between legal jargon and real-world understanding and underscores comic contracts as a tool for enhancing access to justice for vulnerable populations.

This session is PRE-RECORDED and will be broadcast as live. Speakers can join the session to answer questions in the chat.
