Trivium – Tampere Centre for Classical, Medieval and Early Modern Studies organizes a one-day workshop at Tampere University (Faculty of Social Sciences – History) on the international outlook and connections of the early modern Swedish empire. This workshop offers six presentations on various topic related to the relationship between the Swedish empire and the wider world. In focus are topics such as Baltic rivalry, Swedish ambitions overseas, as well as how foreign expertise and capital was involved in the making of the Swedish empire. The presentations represent recent scholarly approaches in the fields from legal and political history, business history, history of diplomacy to the history of knowledge circulation.
