Aki Kaurismäki’s film The Man Without a Past (2002) is a drama-comedy taking place in Helsinki, especially around the city’s harbor area. The film is preceded by a half-hour introductory lecture by Martti Kaartinen on the topic of the socio-metabolic profile of the modern city and its significance for people’s normative relationship to the city. The event is supported by the TURNS Research Enrichment Funding.
