Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation supports new mRNA tuberculosis vaccine project led by Professor Mika Rämet
A new international research project led by Professor Mika Rämet (Tampere University) and Associate Professor Bernadette Saunders (University of Technology Sydney) aims to develop an mRNA-based vaccine against tuberculosis. The three-year project, funded with €865,000 by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation, builds on previous research using a zebrafish model to identify protective antigens. The team will now test the vaccine’s efficacy, safety, and immune response in mammalian models, with the goal of advancing to clinical trials in humans.
