The study will present the authentic views of prospective journalists on the perspectives of their profession and individual careers in the era of rising entrepreneurship on the, one hand, and intense concentration of the power of large corporations, on the other. It aims to understand and conceptualize relations between a new generation of professionals and a new economy in the context of the “consultative dimension”. By so doing the study will ascertain what specific features of Chinese and Russian models of journalism emerge as a result of the interplay between global, national and local.
The Shanghai study has three tasks:
- document analysis related to the “consultative dimension”
- exploration of the digital news ecosystem and interviews with journalists entrepreneurs (4–5)
- focus group interview with students (8–10) and thematic interviews with the educators (3–4)
