VTT and Tampere University researchers report great progress in hybrid printed stretchable electronics for wireless skin-mounted ECG system. The system is fully integrated on highly elastic substrate where components are directly mounted on printed conductive traces. This study focuses on both experimental and Finite Element Modeling to assess the performance and failure of the device under tensile loading. It was found out that FEM provides important insight on the electromechanical performance and localization of failure points which is crucial in order to improve the overall reliability.
