Liina-Kaisa Tynkkynen is Assistant Professor in health and social policy and she has a title of Docent in public policy. She has published extensively on health systems, care policy and private welfare services. She is currently leading a project on health system resilience and crises preparedness funded by the Academy of Finland.

Tynkkynen has extensive international networks. Recently she has been coordinating the Finnish reporting for COVID-19 Health System Response Monitor which is joint undertaking between European Commission, WHO European Region and European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies.


Anna-Aurora Kork

Anna-Aurora Kork (PhD in Administrative Sciences) is a postdoctoral research fellow in health policy at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research interests include decision-making, improvement of healthcare and public accountability.

Kork is currently studying the role of information in sustainable policymaking and the mechanisms of effectiveness in reforming public services. Previously, she has been working on various research and development projects focused on public sector management, impact evaluation and value co-creation.


Anni Jäntti

Anni Jäntti is post-doctoral research fellow in social policy and she has background in administrative sciences. Her research interests focus on local governance, citizen participation and public sector reforms.

Jäntti’s recent research activities include leading an evaluation research project on Helsinki city’s management system reform. Currently, she is doing research on sustainable urban welfare through interactive governance focusing on local governance and management structures and practices that affect citizen participation at the local level.


Matias Heikkilä

Research activities

Matias Heikkilä is a Master of social sciences from Political science starting out as a researcher along with the duties of research coordinator for the SWS program. His interests revolve around legitimation of power and democratic legitimation. Currently, he is also working as a researcher in a health system resilience and crises preparedness project.


Soila Karreinen

Licentiate of Medicine, Researcher

Research activities

Soila Karreinen is licentiate of medicine and a general practitioner. She is also specialising in Public Health. Her background is in primary health care and especially in its development and administration. At the moment she is working as a researcher in the Faculty of Social Sciences in Tampere University. Her research interests include leadership, complexity and health systems. She is also part of a health system resilience and crises preparedness project.
