The International Semiconductor Laser Conference (ISLC 2026) brought together researchers, industry experts, and students from around the world to discuss the latest advances in semiconductor laser technology. In addition to having wonderful presentations about the current semiconductor laser landscape, we had the honour to have six invited speakers. For these talks we had top experts like Prof. John E. Bowers from University of California, Prof. Elyahou Kapon EPFL, and Prof. Susumu Noda from Kyoto University. They covered topics like heterogeneously integrated lasers on silicon, low-dimensional semiconductor lasers, and current progress on photonic-crystal surface-emitting lasers.
The conference highlighted the rapid progress being made in semiconductor laser research and reinforced the importance of global collaboration in advancing photonics technologies. All this was made possible thanks to Organizing Chair Prof. Mircea Guina, General Chair Prof. Erwin Bente, and Program Chair Prof. Nobuhiko Nishiyama as well as the organizing team led by Patrik Rajala.
