Project overview
FiGAnti is a QuantERA-funded international research project focused on developing next-generation single-photon sources for secure quantum communication. The project explores a novel antimony-based quantum dot material platform capable of generating on-demand single photons at telecommunication wavelengths around 1550 nm, making it compatible with existing fiber-optic communication networks. By combining advances in quantum materials, photonic device engineering, and quantum cryptography, FiGAnti aims to enable practical quantum key distribution systems that can be deployed outside the laboratory in real-world communication networks.
Role of Tampere University
At Tampere University, the FiGAnti project focuses on the development and optimization of novel (In)GaSb/AlGaSb quantum dots that emit single photons at telecommunication wavelengths. By advancing the epitaxial growth of these semiconductor nanostructures and studying their optical properties, the team aims to create efficient on-demand quantum light sources that form a key building block for future fiber-based quantum communication systems and quantum key distribution networks.
