“Towards a more sustainable transport system with research-based knowledge” will offer interesting presentations and encounters between old and new acquaintances at Tampere University’s Hervanta campus. It is also possible to follow the presentations remotely.
The program will start at 12.30 (UTC+3) with presentations in English. Professor Maria Attard (L-Università ta’ Malta (UM), Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development) will give a keynote speech and discuss the future of transport research. After that, presentations from Verne will follow. First, Heikki Liimatainen will give an overview of Verne’s pathway and milestone from 2011 to 2026, followed by Tiina Rinne comments and reflections on the previous speeches.
During the coffee break, will be possible to get acquainted with poster presentations, Verne’s research and researchers. After the coffee break, the presentations will be in Finnish. Niko-Matti Ronikomäki from the Ministery of Transport and Communications will discuss knowledge–based approach to decision–making in the transport sector. Tuomas Hietaranta from Posti will discuss sustainable logistics and Verne’s research projects on cycling will be presented by Kalle Vaismaa and Harri Vaarala. This presentation session in Finnish will have a parallel session in English, which will discuss the themes of future transport research in the form of a workshop.
The formal program will end at 3.45 p.m. Networking and exchanging news can be continued in connection with an informal evening out. Before the start of the program, you can also network during lunch (at your own expense) on campus from 11.30 a.m. onwards.
