IHA provides hand-on teaching in their own facilities for educating basics of fluid power in the field off-road machinery and stationary applications. Our student teaching area used for performing various lab exercises under supervision of experience teacher. IHA has two test rigs , where students can build their own hydraulic system and develop their control techniques (Matlab/Simulink based on dSpace). IHA Hardware-in-the loop test rig introduces students to the basics of battery power management techniques (based on CODESYS) and electric motor control (based in Twincat) and also power management of off-road machinery based on real-time virtual hybrid off-road machinery (wheel-loader, forklift, excavator). Students can measure on real time emissions, fuel and energy consumption of the virtual electric and hybrid powertrains during the own automated work cycles (Python).

RoboLab
IHA is also one facilitator of RoboLab. The RoboLab Tampere has been established to facilitate the learning process or both formal and non-formal education, and academia-industry R&D&I collaboration. The RoboLab Tampere operates with similar principles as e.g. FabLabs.
