TRANSFORM (Transforming welfare systems) is a new research platform, bridging the faculties of management and business, social sciences, and medicine and health technologies, and their numerous research groups. The TRANSFORM platform supports researchers and research groups that study welfare systems and services and their effectiveness and equitability, and helps them to collaborate with public, private and third sector organizations, and with other stakeholders. Welfare system/service refers to both health care and/or social care systems/services.
The TRANSFORM platform helps researchers and research projects in acquiring external research grants, setting up and carrying out the projects, and in interacting with different stakeholders. The platform aims at increasing the University’s societal impact in regional, national and international levels.
Job description
The postdoctoral researchers’ research topics could include, for example:
- Conceptualizing the effectiveness and equity of welfare systems and services.
- Assessing the effectiveness of welfare systems and services by utilizing different measures on different levels.
- Analysing, understanding and/or implementing different processes, practices or technologies to improve effectiveness.
- Developing different practices, processes, methods, techniques, technologies, or models to improve effectiveness.
- Evaluating and evaluation methods for public policies, reforms, and strategies
All these topics aim at improving the effectiveness and equity of welfare systems and services.
Possible research disciplines are represented at Tampere University and participating faculties: management and business, social sciences, and medicine and health technologies. In particular, the disciplines include those that focus on social or health policies and politics, welfare services and their practices, welfare sector digitalization and related technologies, service systems and economics, or management of the welfare services.
The postdoctoral researchers’ duties include conducting own research in conjunction with existing research projects on abovementioned disciplines and areas, participating in acquiring research grants and project management, and small-scale teaching (about 56h/year) and student supervision.
Requirements
We expect the applicants to have a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline. We value broad scale understanding on welfare systems and services, and their structures and practices. Experience on multidisciplinary or cross-disciplinary research, that is conducted in collaboration with different organizations is an advantage. Depending on the chosen research topic, Finnish language skill may be needed. Under the circumstances it seen as an advantage.
Postdoctoral research may work in any of the participating faculties. The faculty and the unit are defined according to the applicants’ research profiles.
We offer
The salary of the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition to the basic salary, supplementary salary will be paid according to the personal performance, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. These posts are subjected to a six-month probationary period.

KAKSI TUTKIJATOHTORIN TEHTÄVÄÄ
Haemme kahta tutkijatohtoria laajan tutkimuskonsortion tehtäviin. Tehtävä täytetään 28 kuukauden määräajaksi 1.5.2022 alkaen tai sopimuksen mukaan.
TRANSFORM (Towards Effective and Equitable Welfare Services) on uusi, juuri toimintansa aloittanut tutkimusalusta, joka yhdistää yhteiskuntatieteiden, talouden ja johtamisen sekä lääketieteen ja terveysteknologian tiedekunnat sekä useita tutkijaryhmiä. TRANSFORM-tutkimusalusta tukee hyvinvointipalveluita ja niiden vaikuttavuutta ja oikeudenmukaisuutta tutkivia tutkimushankkeita toimimalla yhteistyössä julkisen, yksityisen ja kolmannen sektorin toimijoiden sekä muiden sidosryhmien kanssa. Tutkimusalusta auttaa hankkeita rahoitushauissa, hankkeiden käynnistämisessä ja niiden aikana, sekä toimii aktiivisessa vuorovaikutuksessa eri sidosryhmien kanssa. Tutkimusalustan ydintehtävänä on yliopiston yhteiskunnallisen vaikuttavuuden lisääminen. Toiminta on sekä alueellista, valtakunnallista että kansainvälistä.
