Academy of Finland has granted funding for a three-year postdoctoral researcher period to Mikko Huova. The research will focus on mobile working machines and especially their hydraulics systems.
Current mobile machines waste energy due to throttle controlled working actuators and hydraulic supply systems, which adapt only partially to the loading situations. The goal of the research is to study the characteristics of a novel hydraulic system concept, which potentially enables significant reduction of the energy losses, fault tolerant operation and improved control performance over current load sensing systems. The main motivation for the research is the reduction of emissions and fuel consumption of current diesel-powered machines and the extension of operating time for future machines should they become battery-powered.
