The research project evaluated the current moisture and mould renovation plans of municipalities, strived to find the reasons for their failure, and how to make them succeed. The study followed five on-going renovation projects. It examined the whole solution process including problem identification, condition assessments, prioritising of targets, renovation planning and implementation, reporting, supervision of renovation work, and follow-up. The review and evaluation phase of the research project was followed by a monitoring and analysis phase. Additionally, the researchers took part in the preparation of an educational package for municipal operators and planners.
A Master’s thesis (in Finnish) was written based on this project by Paavo Kero. The study found that the renovation projects of many municipal properties have often failed.
The research was financed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of the Environment.
