“Eco-efficient irregular heating (EREL)” was part of a larger project consortium “Eco-efficiency of holiday housing (VAPET)”.
Objectives:
- To determine the use of electricity in holiday houses and the electricity saving potential by using constant power heating of buildings.
- To study the hygrothermal behaviour of typical massive log buildings with an irregular heating system, and to determine critical conditions for the occurrence of moisture-problems. Guidelines on how to prevent moisture problems in buildings with irregular heating were given.
- To determine the functioning of a new type of constant power heating method in heating and keeping the building dry. Instructions on how to accomplish the heating with heating devices available on the market were given. The aim was to save electricity using a constant power heating method without sacrificing the hygrothermal behaviour of buildings. As a result, information was received on the advantages and possible disadvantages of a new type of heating method of unoccupied buildings.
