Improving Energy Efficiency of Housing Stock: Impacts on Indoor Environmental Quality and Public Health in Europe, INSULAtE (2010–2015)

The INSULAtE-project aimed to determine the effects of improving energy efficiency on indoor thermal and moisture conditions, indoor air pollutants as well as the health and well-being of residents. The project included field tests on renovation sites in two EU countries. The tests were conducted via measurements and by interviewing residents and property managers. In Finland the project was carried out by National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL, project co-ordinator, responsible for the health-related part of the study) and Tampere University of Technology (TUT, responsible for the structural/building part of the study). In Lithuania the project was carried out by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU, responsible for the exposure part of the study).

Part of funding was from Finnish Energy Industries. Some companies were also involved in the project.
